Trade Fair Innovations 2011: Floodwater protection door

If there is a danger of flooding, air is pumped into the three-sided special bulb seal. It seals – depending on the version – the door to 1 or 1.5 metre water column. At the floor a special stainless steel profile prevents water entering the building.

New Door To Beat Floods
Certified watertightness: The new floodwater door from Teckentrup protects buildings against pressing or standing water to 1.5 metre water column, tested in accordance with PfB (test centre for building elements) regulations for floodwater-proof doors. Teckentrup unveiled this innovation at BAU 2011.

2011 was just ten days old when the River Rhine and River Mosel broke their banks, flooding properties – the snow had melted quickly due to a sharp rise in temperature - followed by heavy rainfall. Experts fear that global warming will lead to an increase in such natural disasters. To reduce the damage caused by floodwater to properties, Teckentrup has developed a new protective door. It provides watertightness to 1500 mm water column (pressing or standing water).

If there is a danger of flooding, air can be pumped into a special bulb seal, e.g. using a compressor, via a concealed valve. A specially shaped stainless steel profile at the floor and the special seal prevent water entering a building.
