Teckentrup fire barriers at BAU 2009
Fire Protection 2009
Architecture meets fire protection: Today, elegant doors and building authority approved and printable films ensure that fire and smoke barriers ‘cut a fine figure’ even in sophisticated rooms. The door specialist Teckentrup presented these new architectural solutions for the first time at BAU 2009.
The trade fair highlight was a “Bruno Banani fire protection door”, which vividly demonstrated the appearance of fire protection in 2009. Customers can now use special films to apply any motif to a door – all they need for this is a digital image. Recent tests have shown that this ‘slight alteration to the fire protection element’ is safe; meaning building authority approval is still valid after application of the film.
FSA door: Smooth appearance, less protruding hinges
Teckentrup FSA 42 and 62 doors have followed this trend towards optically attractive doors. “Protruding hinges are no longer required, thus providing a smooth, flush-mounted door leaf. The doors are therefore more elegant than conventional models,” explains CEO Kai Teckentrup.
The technical further developments also improve assembly and increase the areas of application: Approval as a T60 door is in accordance with the building regulations of several German federal states which include this new fire protection class in their specifications. “Fitters also save time, since the frame design ensures that just one wall plug is required per fixing point,” says Kai Teckentrup. This means that fitters no longer have to fold out the anchors and insert numerous wall plugs. And the reduced weight of the elements facilitates the tasks at hand – they are approximately 25% lighter than their predecessors. Furthermore, they can be adjusted vertically by up to four millimetres after assembly – a benefit that meets the harsh demands of building site life: Slight deviations often require adjustments on site.
Fire-proof sliding door according to European standard
Teckentrup also showcased its new generation of fire-proof sliding doors at the German trade fair. These doors have already been tested to EN 1634-1. “This ensures rapid door approval in other European countries. And they are also future-proof, since this type of door also meets the new European standard,” continues Kai Teckentrup. The company expects to receive approval for Germany in 2009.
