Transparent fire protection in schools
Many schools urgently need renovating - and it's usually not just the plaster that is hanging off the wall. In Schwerte alone, 6 schools have had their door systems replaced and modernised by Teckentrup. The renovations were completed during the holidays to avoid disruption to the school routine.
Alongside the ability to lock classrooms, escape routes and emergency exits in old school buildings are a safety aspect that is often ignored. Anywhere that a large number of people can gather in a small space is subject to particularly strict regulations when it comes to fire protection and escape and evacuation planning. This is all the more relevant for places where children come together, such as in schools. In Germany, regulations include following the "SchulBauR" guideline on building authority requirements in schools (DIN 58215) – with specifications for fire protection, emergency exits, corridors, stairs, halls, doors, emergency lighting, alarms and the associated tests. In addition, special accident prevention regulations are to be observed and there are recommendations on acoustics and hygiene. Schwerte local authority has now renovated the corridors in six schools.
