Hospital planning: What is important for doors
Teckentrup doors in the new Gütersloh hospital
Bulky beds, bustling staff, recovering patients: Hospital corridors have to offer sufficient space, and doors should open reliably and automatically. Areas not open to the general public require different types of doors, e.g. access restriction or high hygienic standards for kitchens. Many doors also require fire and smoke protection. A perfect example is a new building at the City Hospital in Gütersloh. A hospital is the ideal showcase for the wide range of applications for modern door technologies. This is underlined by a new building at the City Hospital in Gütersloh.
The previous antiquated building has been replaced by a state-of-the-art four-storey one, which is connected to the existing building complex. It took two years to build and cost approximately 22 million euros. The upper floors offer space for 42 beds. Patients, visitors, doctors and hospital staff are provided with bright and friendly recreation, common and utility rooms. Public and private passageways are separate. The ground floor is home to, amongst other things, the main kitchen which can provide 2,600 meals at a time and also supplies external clients.
The complex building has been equipped with a wide range of functional doors: Approximately 140 tubular profile and steel metal doors, as well as conventional interior doors and two sectional doors. The value of the ordered door elements is approximately 450,000 euros.
