The former granary in the medieval half-timbered town of Einbeck stood empty for a long time until the specially founded “Kulturstiftung Kornhaus” (Kornhaus Cultural Foundation) had it restored in 2009. Five years of planning and construction went into the listed brick building, which dates back to 1898. The aim was to modernize the 6,500 m² space without losing its historical charm. The result is exhibition rooms with a combination of cool, elegant steel and warm, cozy wooden elements on the walls, ceilings, and floors. The heart of the museum is the six storage levels (the former bulk storage areas) where grain was originally stored. Today, they showcase more than 130 years of history of two-, three-, and four-wheeled vehicles: historic bicycles, motorcycles, and automobiles from one of Germany's largest private vehicle collections. Among the approximately 300 exhibits are many unique pieces.
To ensure that the valuable exhibits are preserved for the long term, PS.Speicher has a comprehensive security concept in place: burglary, fire, and, in some cases, smoke protection. Teckentrup special steel doors close off access to the exhibition rooms.
