Remodelling during ongoing operation

After 120 years, everyone could certainly do with a renovation. One of the most traditional, largest and most important science and technology museums in the world - the Deutsches Museum in Munich - is no different. Special challenges: The remodelling was carried out during ongoing operations and solutions had to be found for the existing conditions. Different existing walls, supplemented by new masonry, reinforced concrete and lightweight construction walls as well as steel structures also present the door planners with a variety of installation situations.

A number of additional challenges also had to be overcome in terms of fire protection and doors. 200 steel doors from Teckentrup were installed in the Deutsches Museum, including mainly fire-resistant and fire-resistant doors, but also flaps. The project team worked closely together during the planning and implementation phase and often found customised solutions that enabled the museum areas to reopen quickly.
